We have received nominations from across the country – from mainstream media personalities, to those behind innovative start-ups to those who tirelessly bring news to small communities. The J-Source Canadian Newsperson of 2011 will honour a Canadian who has demonstrated excellence and had a positive impact on the quality of journalism, inspiring journalists, educators and the Canadian public. There are just a few days left to send us your nominations. Who do you think we should honour this year?

From protesters to presidents, we all know the people who have made the news this year. But what about the people who covered it? The people who brought us the big stories, uncovered scandals, informed us about our communities?

The J-Source Canadian Newsperson of the Year Award will honour someone who has demonstrated excellence in journalism. In big cities or small towns, with established media companies or with innovative start-ups, reporters, editors, producers, managers and owners have created quality journalism for Canadians.

We have received a number of nominations so far, but we still want to hear who you think we should honour before the Jan. 16 deadline.
