The Globe and Mail announces plans for new headquarters
The Globe and Mail has announced plans for a new 480,000 square-foot building that will be constructed on the north-west corner of Front St. W and Spadina Ave. in Toronto, to be completed in late 2015.

The Globe and Mail has announced plans for a new 480,000 square-foot building that will be constructed on the north-west corner of Front St. W and Spadina Ave. in Toronto, to be completed in late 2015. Perry Nixdorf, vice president of operations for The Globe said in an e-mail that the new building will be constructed on land adjacent to the paper’s current headquarters on Front St. W. A Toyota dealership currently sits on that corner of Front and Spadina.
A press release states that “[the building’s] design will create an inspiring work environment and help maintain The Globe's lead as a news organization.” Perry said he was unable to comment at the moment on specific design features of the new building, or its estimated cost.
[node:ad]Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects (KPMB) will create the new building, which will be an 18-storey multi-tenant building that links to a six-storey podium that will house The Globe, according to the press release. It will be built to LEED Gold standards for sustainability and green design principles. KPMB has worked on other high-profile buildings such as the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Canada’s National Ballet School and the CIGI campus in Waterloo.
