Toronto Star political journalist Susan Delacourt will be awarded the Hyman Solomon Award for Excellence in Public Policy Journalism on April 10. The award acknowledges a journalist whose work explains how public policy affects Canadians and provides insight into the policy-making process.
"Susan has kept a sharp eye on decision-makers and the democratic process for more than 20 years," said David Mitchell, the Public Policy Forum's president and CEO, in a statement. "Her insight, wit and clear analytical focus contribute immensely to the quality of public discourse in Canada around public officials, governments and the causes and effects of their decisions."
Past recipients include the Toronto Star’s Chantal Hébert and Jim Travers, CBC’s Don Newman, as well as the Globe and Mail’s Eric Reguly and Jeffrey Simpson, the Toronto Star reported.
“It’s a great honour for Susan, the Ottawa bureau and the Toronto Star,” Star editor Michael Cooke said in an article.
