Andy Blatchford is the new finance and economics reporter in Ottawa for The Canadian Press.

Blatchford has been working at CP’s Montreal bureau for more than seven years and has covered Quebec politics, the Charbonneau Commission and the Lac-Megantic disaster.

He will start his new role on Oct. 6.

“His hard work and hunger for news will be a great benefit to the Ottawa bureau and business department,” said Heather Scoffield, Ottawa bureau chief, in an internal memo.

Blatchford will replace Julian Beltrame, who recently retired.
