Postmedia has announced a new editor-in-chief and two senior VPs as part of its ongoing digital first revamp.

Lou Clancy has been appointed vice-president of editorial and editor-in-chief for Postmedia News. Clancy retired as editor-in-chief of the Toronto Sun in 2009, after 45 years in the newspaper business. At the time, Toronto Star EIC Michael Cooke described Clancy as: “one of Canada’s journalistic lions. [He] has always done good in the business — without noise or fuss or expecting thanks.”

Steve Bours is the company’s new senior VP of digital media strategy and product development; Scott Anderson assumes the role of senior VP, digital content strategy, as well as that of managing director of Canada.com.

“These changes reflect our commitment to developing leading-edge content and to investing in people,” the company said in a statement.

“The transformation of our industry has put greater emphasis than ever on content creation, distribution and engagement with audiences. With prime time now all the time, our newsrooms have shifted from a once-a-day print deadline focus to multi-platform, 24/7 content development and distribution. Growing audiences, keeping them engaged and developing the products, platforms and services that they want will propel our success into the future.”

Staff were told about the changes Friday morning.
