Grant Ellis, the managing editor of the Financial Post, is joining BNN as its managing editor at the end of May.  

National Post sports columnist Bruce Arthur is joining the Toronto Star. The move follows the departure of Star columnists Damien Cox to Sportsnet and Cathal Kelly to The Globe and Mail. 

Kane, a general assignment reporter for the Toronto Star, will report on film and television for the Canadian Press. 

Furlong, a long-time journalist with CBC Newfoundland and Labrador, died at 63 from cancer.

Rita Trichur, a telecom reporter for The Globe and Mail’s business section, is joining Wall Street Journal as its banking reporter based in Toronto. 

A Canadian-born journalist working for the Associated Press was wounded Friday while on assignment in Afghanistan. Kathy Gannon, 60, of Timmins, Ont., was shot twice and the news agency said she was in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Veteran weekend news anchor Kimothy Walker has left CTV News Ottawa after 25 years with the station. In her final broadcast on March 28, Walker said she wants to focus more on documentary filmmaking, fundraising and volunteering.
