National Post sports columnist Bruce Arthur is joining the Toronto Star.

According to his online bio, Arthur is a graduate of University of British Columbia and joined the Post in 2001 as a sports reporter. He became the basketball columnist in 2005, a Toronto columnist in 2007 and a national columnist a year later.

The move follows the departure of Star columnists Damien Cox to Sportsnet and Cathal Kelly to The Globe and Mail.

Editor-in-chief Michael Cooke said in a memo to “stay tuned” and that the Star would maintain its edge as the best at the “sports game in town.”

“Please be assured, we will continue to invest in reporting talent to maintain our lead over the others, who have a long way to catch up,” Cooke said.
