CBC News Network has announced new live programming, with an expanded CBC News Now launching in Vancouver on Sept. 19.

Ian Hanomansing will host the Monday-through-Friday primetime broadcast, though details on the format on the show have yet to be determined. Hanomansing told CBC that it will include a mixture of sports, weather and breaking news.

The expansion will increase CBCNN's ability to cover late-breaking news from Western Canada and around the world, Hanomansing told CBC.

"This expansion of CBC News Now is part of our ongoing commitment to better inform Canadians around the clock and across the country," said CBC News general manager and editor-in-chief Jennifer McGuire.
