CBC News Ottawa reporter Julie Ireton was named the Michener-Deacon fellow for journalism education. She will develop a workshop on entrepreneurial journalism to help journalists market their skills, according to the press release. Her project will eventually link Carleton University's Sprott School of Business and its School of Journalism to assist j-schools across the country and their students in these challenging times for job prospects.

Photojournalist Roger LeMoyne won the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism for his project on the environmental and civic behaviour of Canadian mining companies in foreign countries. LeMoyne’s work has appeared in Time, Maclean’s and The Globe and Mail and Canadian Art.
