The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario is accepting entries for its annual Media Awards, which recognize journalists covering nursing and health care.

Honours are awarded across multiple categories — daily newspaper, community newspaper, radio, television and online — this year adding podcasts and multicultural.

There is no entry fee. Work published or broadcast in 2022 is eligible for consideration.

Last years winners include freelance journalist Helen Tran for her Voice of Pelham article “Don’t call me a hero“, The Toronto Star and Investigative Journalism Bureau for their investigation of overdose deaths in Toronto, the Toronto Star’s Steve McKinley for his coverage of burnout in the nursing industry and Imani Walker for her CBC Radio coverage of addressing racism in nursing.

The deadline for entries has been extended until March 7 at 4:30 p.m. EST. For more information about how to submit, visit RNAO’s website.
