Didi Talks: Diversity in Journalism

Join us for our second Didi Talks session focused on working as a BIPOC journalist in Canada.

The panel discussion will take place on Zoom and the link to join will be sent to participants on the day of the event.

Moderator:

Arti Patel — Didihood co-founder and national online managing editor of lifestyle and features at Global News. Arti has spent almost a decade covering lifestyle news.

Panellists:

Shireen Ahmed — A writer, TEDx speaker, and award-winning sports activist who focuses on Muslim women, and the intersections of racism and misogyny in sports.

Haley Lewis — A Kanyen’kehà:ka-Scottish writer and freelancer from the Maritimes currently living in Ottawa. Haley has worked for the CBC in various local and national newsrooms across the country and for HuffPost Canada as their first Indigenous reporter.

Mahnoor Yawar — An award-winning journalist and producer for CityNews at 6. Mahnoor has a decade of experience reporting across the globe in four languages, most recently at OMNI News, CBC News, and the Globe and Mail, as well as publications in the UAE and Pakistan.

Eternity Martis — An award-winning journalist and editor. Eternity is the author of the bestselling book, They Said This Would Be Fun: Race, Campus Life, and Growing Up.
