On May 1, the Globe and Mail will be increasing its paywall subscription price from $19.99 per month to $23.99. In an email to readers, the paper describe the increase as reflective of investments made to Globe Unlimited’s content since its launch in 2012:
In addition to best-in-class news and business reporting, and award-winning multimedia features, Globe Unlimited subscribers enjoy a proprietary suite of investor tools, including StockReports+, a professional-grade analysis and rating system from Thomson Reuters giving readers access to over 7,200 reports each valued at $25.00, and a wide range of subscriber-exclusive content.
The notice to readers also describes upcoming additions to Globe Unlimited in May, including expanded Report on Business coverage and three daily curated issues for tablet and smartphone editions.
Notice of these changes came just shortly after the Toronto Star dropped its paywall, which had run since 2013.
