The recipient will spend six months working with Postmedia News in Ottawa followed by another six months at the Calgary Herald, and will have the opportunity to work on a special in-depth project.

The Michelle Lang Fellowship is now accepting applications for a position starting in September 2013.

The recipient will spend six months working with Postmedia News in Ottawa followed by another six months at the Calgary Herald, and will have the opportunity to work on a special in-depth project.

The 2013 fellow will receive a salary of approximately $40,000.

The fellowship was named in honour of Michelle Lang, a Herald reporter who was killed in 2009 when the armoured vehicle she was riding in was struck by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.
