Postmedia Network Canada has extended the contract of president and CEO Paul Godfrey to December 2016.

“Extending Paul’s contract provides continuity for the Company as it continues to focus on the important work of its ongoing transformation,” said Graham Savage, chair of Postmedia’s compensation and pension committee, in a statement. “The Board is unanimous in its support of the extension and has a great deal of confidence in Paul’s leadership.”

Godfrey has been in this role since the company’s inception in July 2010. Previously he was President of National Post.

According to the Financial Post, Godfrey’s contract, which includes a base salary of $950,000, was previously set to expire on Aug. 31, 2014.
