CBC’s Quirks and Quarks host Bob McDonald will officially become and Officer of the Order of Canada Friday.

The longtime science journalist is one of 10 Canucks set to receive the prestigious officer rank tomorrow. In total, 39 Canadians are being named to the Order of Canada this round.

The honour is intended to recognize a lifetime of top achievement, contribution and dedication to the nation. McDonald is received a nod for his contribution as a journalist and an educator, as well as his role in making science understandable and interesting for the public.
