Gamers, welcome to your new mainstream media home.

The National Post has announced it will launch a video game-centric site called Post Arcade with the team that currently runs the Financial Post Tech Desk. New to the team though, is Chad Sapieha, who has been writing about video games for The Globe and Mail since 2003.

“At Post Arcade, we are setting out to deliver everything you would expect from a great gaming website, including thoughtful reviews, insightful analysis and important news from the industry,” editor Matt Hartley said in the FP Tech Desk post introducing the new project.

“But given our Canadian roots, we are also aiming to peek behind the curtain to bring you the stories of the people and the studios working to develop video games across this great country.”

The National Post is part of the Postmedia network of newspapers, which is in the midst of a three-year transition that is aiming to cut 15 to 20 percent of the company’s operating costs. This transition includes a digital-first strategy.
