Former Globe and Mail editor-in-chief John Stackhouse has joined the C.D. Howe Institute, a public policy think tank, and the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs as a senior fellow.
Stackhouse was replaced at the Globe by David Walmsley last month, and no reason was provided for his departure at the time.
“John Stackhouse is an accomplished journalist, author and speaker on national and international affairs, with a wide range of policy-relevant expertise,” said William Robson, president and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute, in a statement. “He is a notable thought leader on matters relating to Canadian public policy. The policy work undertaken by the Institute will be all the stronger with him as a senior fellow.”
Speaking about his appointment to the Munk School, Stackhouse said its “reputation for outstanding research and education speaks for itself. I'm thrilled to be associated with their exceptional experts, Master of Global Affairs graduate students, and students in the Global Journalism Fellowship."
